Friendly reminder: Bulky Winter Coats + Car Seats = Bad Idea!
All car seat manufacturers include small-print warnings in the manual that bulky clothing can reduce the effectiveness of the car seat but often those warnings don’t impress upon parents just how critical this point is:- a child can be completely ejected from the seat in the event of crash, sometimes leaving just the bulky coat behind.
Remember, the straps MUST be tight against the child’s body so strap your child into their seat with normal clothing and a thin coat and then use blankets, footmuffs or even thicker winter coats reversed and used like a blanket.
